Our August employee spotlight is Helen Devine.
Helen is the assistant general manager at our Bayside location.

Assistent General Manager
How long have you worked for Ben's?
I started October, 1993
Why do you enjoy working at Ben's?
I love that this is a family restaurant. I have seen so many families grow over the years. People who came to us when we first opened with their young children. Those children now have children of their own and bring them to Ben's. It really is an extended family!
What's your favorite Ben's menu item and why?
Roast beef sandwich on garlic bread.
Tell us a little about yourselves...
I grew up around the corner from our original location in Baldwin. I love my gardening during the spring and summer months. I also like to spend time at my happy place each year, Aruba!
Any favorite Ben's stories from your history with the company?
One of my favorite stories goes back a while. A woman who was purchasing a chicken to take home asked the General manager at the time, Freddie Silverstein, "Where should I put the chicken when I get home?"
Freddie's answer was classic. "Do you have a piano? Do you have a piano bench? Open the bench and put the chicken in the bench." She asked, "Why would I do that and not put it in the refrigerator?"
