New York City is known for many things; an epic skyline, Times Square, “dirty water dogs,” Broadway musicals, the Yankees, and countless other iconic people, places and things. But, what many do not know is that New York City is also home to the first-ever Jewish American deli, which opened in 1888.

Ben's Voted The Absolute Best Knish in NY
Perhaps because it’s part of a chain, Ben’s doesn’t get as much love as some of the city’s more pedigreed delis, but it’s actually quite good, as proven by its excellent round knish. Served warm from the oven, the open-top pastry - on the pleasingly thick side for a knish, even crustlike - is flaky and deep-golden-hued; and the potato filling is creamy, but still textured, with a good ratio of lumps, and perfectly seasoned...

We Love Hearing From our Patrons!
"What a great staff! Fresh pickles were crunchy and tangy and the sandwich was flavourful if quite dry. Definitely would recommend the knish." - Ethan via Google (Manhattan)
"Everything perfect from service to food quality. Pastrami and brisket were delicious, rye bread was so soft and matza ball soup was light and tasty." - M. via Google (Manhattan)
"Everything is delicious and filling. When they say 'overstuffed', they mean it!" - M. Chase via Google (Boca Raton)
"Came up from Florida and wanted a real deli meal. We were not disappointed. Our waiter Billy was a joy to have. I loved my motza ball and hot pastrami sandwich. The pickles and coleslaw were great." - Chris via Facebook
"My daughter and I were visiting NY recently, and someone we'd met recommended Ben's. Two weeks after our visit, we're back in Texas, and we're still talking about how outstanding the pastrami sandwiches were. Very thin-cut and deliciously seasoned. The waiter was personable and helpful as well. We will add Ben's to our regular New York food stops!" - Dorian via Yelp (Bayside)
