I wrote and sent my June Blog to those who oversee the production of the monthly Ben's eNewsletter. To my dismay, and theirs, I was encouraged to write something not as political as my first attempt, which was, with civility, a critique of our government.
But, let me first just say that an enlightened government is judged not by its riches, but rather by the way in which the government treats the poorest and weakest among us.
Well, I am glad I got that off my chest. Now I can feel free to write something different...

"I'm from CA, and everytime I visit NY, I have to make a pilgrimage to Ben's. There is absolutely nothing like it on the island. Tender tounge, smokey pastrami... Mustard and rye bread is all this sandwich needs. Pickles are crunchy and on point. Cole slaw is a little sweet but complements the meats well. Giant delicious knishes too! They pack stuff to go too, so I take a sandwich for the plane (and make everyone onboard jealous.)"

"This place is everything you remember about the old-style traditional kosher delis that used to be found across New York and Long Island. They still serve heaping mounds of corned beef and pastrami on overstuffed sandwiches with all the pickles and coleslaw you can eat. Food can be heavy but sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for... Easy and comfortable and just as expected."

"They have excellent kosher-style food, famous in New York, where there originally from. They serve knishes, kishka and other sides. They give you great tasting coleslaw all you can eat and half-sour and sour pickles. They also have a large selection of Dr. Brown sodas. A very good restaurant at a reasonable price. Would recommend it to everyone who likes a good New York sandwich."
