Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Our Prep Cooks pride themselves on all the good food that goes to the steam table and counter, such as our famous pastrami, Ben’s cured corned beef and tongue, soups and salads. We want our food to be consistent in taste from one Ben’s location to the next, so our specialties are made from recipes that have been perfected over the years. Washing, slicing and mixing of ingredients as well as washing the pots are all part of the job. It goes without saying, but we say it anyway, maintaining a sanitary kitchen to the highest standards is a must.
Education: A Degree in a post secondary culinary arts training program is desirable. The ability to read, write, speak and understand English is also desirable. Knowledge of Spanish, at least kitchen Spanish, is a must.
Experience: One year experience as a prep cook in a high volume operation is required.
Temperament: You must be calm and cool under pressure, and be able to work well with coworkers in the kitchen and the dining room.
Physical Demands: You must be able to move about in close quarters, and must be able to handle fast work pace for extended hours.
Salary: Will be discussed at time of interview.
